Dharamshala: In a significant development, 44 year old Congress MLA Vinay Kumar from Renuka assembly constituency is poised to assume the role of Deputy Speaker in the Himachal Vidhan Sabha, according to reliable sources within the Congress party. Insiders have revealed to The Newz Radar (TNR) that he is likely to be officially proposed for this position by the ruling party.
Vinay Kumar, son of Late Dr Prem Singh, former Chief Parliamentary Secretary of the HP Government, was born on March 12, 1978, in Maina Bagh, District Sirmour. He is married to Smt. Seema Bhushan and is a proud parent to a son and a daughter. Additionally, he is an agriculturist.
His political journey includes serving as the General Secretary of the Block Congress Committee in Renuka and holding the position of a Non-official Director at H.P. Agricultural Rural Development Bank Ltd. He has been the working President of HPCC since June 2022.
Vinay Kumar was elected to the State Legislative Assembly in December 2012 and was re-elected in December 2017. He served as the Chief Parliamentary Secretary from December 25, 2012, to December 20, 2017. During this period, he also chaired the Renuka Development Board. In the 2018-2022 term, he served as a member of the Welfare, Library, Research & Reference, and Human Development Committees.
For his third consecutive term, Vinay Kumar was elected in December 2022 and was nominated as the Chairman of the Public Administration Committee. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Estimates Committee.
Beyond politics, Vinay Kumar has a keen interest in social service. His favorite pastimes include reading, traveling, sports, and music. He has traveled to various countries, including Dubai, Hong Kong, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Macau.
