Una: A Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HAS) officer serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Una has been booked on rape charges following a complaint by a young woman.
The police have initiated an investigation into the allegations.

Social media acquaintance turned into repeated meetings

According to the complainant, she came in contact with the SDM through social media. She alleged that he began calling her to his office on multiple occasions.
Around six weeks ago, when she visited, he reportedly took her into his private chamber, put his hands on her shoulders and held her by the arm.

The woman alleged that he then proposed marriage and, upon her resistance, forced himself on her.
The complaint further states that about 10 days later, the SDM arranged a room under another person’s name at Una Circuit House. He allegedly summoned her there late at night and again established physical relations against her will.

Blackmail claims and police action

The woman has also accused the officer of blackmail, alleging that he used a video recorded in his office to threaten her when she spoke about filing a complaint. She claimed that as she pressed for accountability, he began avoiding her and ultimately pushed her out of his residence when she confronted him.

Una ASP Surender Sharma confirmed receipt of the complaint. “The matter is under investigation and the woman’s medical examination has been conducted,” he added.
