Kullu visit sparks fresh political clash

Kullu: Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut on Friday launched a sharp attack on Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, accusing them of neglecting the plight of disaster-hit people.
While interacting with affected families in Kullu, Kangana Ranaut pointed to the condition of the Kullu-Manikaran road and asked, “Where is the PWD minister? What is he busy enjoying while people here are suffering? He keeps asking about us, but he should have been here himself.”
She added, “This is not the right time for weddings, honeymoons or holidays. It breaks my heart that during such a disaster, some leaders are going abroad while officers sit in offices and no real work is happening on the ground.”
Attack linked to wedding, foreign visit
Kangana’s remarks came just days before Vikramaditya Singh’s wedding on September 22. At the same time, Chief Minister Sukhu is on a private visit to London for his daughter’s admission. Without naming them directly, Kangana said, “People are suffering, yet leaders are celebrating and going abroad. They have no concern for the condition of the public.”
The MP alleged that despite the availability of funds, the state government had failed to restore washed-away roads even weeks after the disaster. “If our hands were not tied, this situation would not have been so bad,” she said.
Kangana, Vikramaditya continue war of words
Kangana, who defeated Vikramaditya Singh in the Mandi Lok Sabha elections in 2024, has repeatedly clashed with him in recent months. During her Kullu visit, she distributed ration to disaster-affected families and inaugurated a blood donation camp on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Responding to her criticism, Vikramaditya Singh hit back, saying Kangana only comes for “disaster tourism,” while he remains with the people at all times.
