Chamba: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday (August 30, 2025) reached disaster-hit Chamba’s Bharmour region to take stock of the extensive damage caused by heavy rain-triggered landslides and flashfloods.

The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey over Chamba, Bharmour and Manimahesh to assess the destruction before meeting affected families.

CM Sukhu flew in from Delhi to Pathankot in the morning and later boarded a helicopter carrying ration supplies for the families and pilgrims stranded in the remote areas. Officials said he would distribute relief material to those stuck due to road blockades and washed-away pathways.

During the visit, Sukhu is also chairing meetings with senior officials and directing them to speed up relief and rehabilitation efforts. Special focus is being given to evacuating more than 600 Manimahesh pilgrims still trapped in Bharmour due to collapsed roads and disrupted connectivity.

Meanwhile, Chamba continues to struggle with broken communication lines and damaged infrastructure. The Ravi caused widespread destruction, leaving several roads, bridges and homes washed away. Mobile networks remain partially down in many areas, making rescue and relief operations challenging.

The Chief Minister reviewed the condition of NH-154A (Chamba-Bharmour) and other key roads, instructing officials to ensure quick restoration. A meeting was held at the NHPC building in Chamera and was attended by PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Chamba MLAs Neeraj Nayyar and Suresh Kumar, and former minister Asha Kumari.
