All 4 accused arrested in Chamba engineer murder case, Himachal police yet to reveal motive

Chamba: In a major breakthrough in the *murder case of Junior Engineer (JE) Naveen Kumar from the Himachal Pradesh Jal Shakti Department’s Tissa division, the Chamba police have arrested all four accused named in the FIR.


Initial police investigations reveal that all four accused were allegedly involved in physically assaulting Naveen Kumar on the night of the incident. The police are actively interrogating the suspects to unravel the full sequence of events that led to the engineer’s death. The authorities believe they are close to solving the case and expect to disclose the exact motive soon.

Senior police officials visit crime scene

On Friday, Chamba SP Abhishek Yadav along with Salooni SDPO Ranjan Sharma and Tissa SHO Inspector Ashok Kumar visited the crime scene. A forensic team, in the presence of the SP, collected vital evidence.


Naveen Kumar’s body was recovered on Thursday under suspicious circumstances from the Sarela Nullah area on the Chamba-Tissa main road. A postmortem was conducted at the Chamba Medical College in the presence of forensic specialists and the body was later handed over to the family.


Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal and SP Abhishek Yadav also visited the hospital and met the victim’s family, assuring them of a fair and thorough investigation.

Family & villagers protest, demand justice

After discovering the body, Naveen’s family alleged foul play and named four individuals they suspected of being involved in the *murder. In protest, the family and villagers staged a four-hour road blockade on the Tissa main road, halting vehicular traffic.


DSP Jitendra Chaudhary reached the site and managed to calm the protesters, promising strict action against the culprits. The police soon registered a case of murder and detained the four accused.

Police assure full clarity soon

Chamba SP Abhishek Yadav confirmed the arrest of all four suspects and said forensic evidence from the site has been secured. “We are close to uncovering the exact motive behind the *killing. The investigation is progressing swiftly and we aim to conclude it at the earliest,” he said.


The accused are set to be produced before the court for remand proceedings while the community waits for answers in the shocking death of the young government engineer.
