Dharamshala: In a move aimed at boosting tourism during the monsoon season, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has announced a 20% to 40% discount on room tariffs across most of its hotels.

The scheme will remain valid from July 15 to September 12, 2025. With room prices slashed significantly, travellers now have the perfect opportunity to explore the hills of Himachal Pradesh without denting their budget.

Over 50 hotels covered under discount scheme

The HPTDC operates over 56 properties across the state and the monsoon discount scheme covers the majority of these. Hotels located in top tourist destinations like Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, Dharamshala, Chamba, Narkanda, Kasauli, Chail, Rewalsar, Rampur, Fagu, Palampur and Sarahan will offer discounted tariffs during this period.

The biggest benefits are available at some of the most scenic and well-facilitated properties. These include up to 40% discount at Hotel Hatu in Narkanda, Ros Common in Kasauli, Chail Palace and Annexie, The Golf Glade in Naldehra, Hotel Geetanjali and Hotel Manimahesh in Dalhousie and Apple Blossom in Fagu.

A discount of 20% is available at Hotel Shrikhand in Sarahan, Rohtang Manalsu in Manali, Tourist Inn in Rewalsar, Bushahr Regency in Rampur, Hotel Silvermoon and Hotel Sarvari in Kullu and Hotel Baghhal and Chanshal in Rohru.

A 30% discount is available at other popular properties, such as Hotel Holiday Home (Shimla), The Castle (Naggar), Club House (McLeodganj), Hotel Meghdoot (Kyarighat), Hotel Kunzam (Manali), Hotel Kunal (Dharamshala), Hotel Yamuna (Paonta Sahib), Hotel Hill Top (Swarghat), Hotel Renuka (Renukaji), Hotel Pinewood (Barog) and many more across districts like Bilaspur, Mandi, Kangra and Sirmaur.

Savings of up to Rs 800 per night for tourists

The discounts are being seen as a strong incentive for both domestic and out-of-state tourists, especially families and budget-conscious travellers. Rajeev Kumar, Managing Director of HPTDC, said the move was aimed at increasing room occupancy during the off-peak season.

Occupancy in HPTDC hotels typically hovers around 40 to 50% during the monsoon, but rises to 60-90% on weekends. With the new pricing strategy, the corporation is expecting a significant jump in bookings and visitor footfall, said Rajeev Kumar.

Tourists can avail of these discounts by booking rooms through the official HPTDC website where detailed rate charts, hotel amenities and real-time availability are provided. Walk-in bookings at hotel receptions are also allowed, but pre-booking is advisable given the expected demand surge.

Hotels not included in the offer

A few properties are excluded from the discount scheme, including Hotel Chandrabhaga (Keylong), The Spiti (Kaza), Kinner Kailash (Kalpa), Hotel Suket (Sundernagar), Willie Park (Shimla) and Hamir Hotel (Hamirpur).

No discounts will be available at Hotel Iravati and Hotel Champak in Chamba during the Minjar Fair (July 27 to August 3). Hotel Gaurikund in Bharmour will not offer the discount during the Manimahesh Yatra (August 11 to September 1).
