Chamba: An elderly person was killed while six others sustained injuries when the car they were travelling in plunged into a gorge near Pukhri on the Chamba-Tissa road late Sunday (April 20, 2025) night.
The family was returning from a wedding when the accident occurred, leading to the death 80-year-old Gurdhyan, son of Madho Ram, a resident of Gumriyadu under the jurisdiction of Kandla post office.
According to the police, the injured were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav confirmed the fatality and stated that the body had been handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. He said inquest proceedings were underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety on the Chamba-Tissa stretch, which has witnessed several accidents in recent months.
