The Himachal Pradesh weather has taken a turn as a fresh western disturbance has got active over the state, bringing a sudden chill in the temperature in some parts.
On Wednesday (April 9, 2025) morning, light snowfall was reported in the higher reaches of the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti. This led to a noticeable drop in temperatures across the valley, though vehicular movement remained normal.
Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla also witnessed overcast skies, with light clouds hanging over the area.
According to the Meteorological Centre-Shimla, the weather forecast for the coming days indicates that light rain and snowfall are likely in various parts of the state.
Four-day forecast for rain, light snow
On April 9, light snowfall is expected in some areas of Lahaul-Spiti. On April 10, districts including Chamba, Kullu, Kangra and Lahaul-Spiti are likely to experience light rain and snowfall.
On April 11, districts such as Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan and Kangra may also receive similar weather. Additionally, there is a chance of light rain in the mid-hill and lower hill areas, including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Kinnaur, on April 9.
The forecast predicts light to moderate rain and snowfall in many parts of Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Kullu on April 11.
On April 12, isolated light rain or snowfall may occur in higher regions of Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kullu and Kangra.
Yellow alert for thunderstorm, hailstorm on April 10
A yellow alert for thunderstorm and hailstorm has been issued for the middle mountainous regions of the state on April 10. Clear weather is expected to return across the state between April 13 and 15.
Over the next 24 hours, no significant change is expected in the minimum temperature across many parts of the state. However, a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius is likely in the minimum temperature over the next two-three days.
Similarly, a decrease of 2-3 degrees Celsius is expected in the maximum temperature in several areas. On April 9, some places in the middle hills may experience heatwave conditions.
