Shimla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap has directed revenue officers to expedite the resolution of pending revenue cases to provide better services to the public. He was presiding over a meeting with district revenue officers at Bachat Bhawan on Tuesday (February 11, 2025).
During the meeting, the DC emphasised that revenue officers and field staff must work efficiently to resolve cases promptly. He reiterated that the state government prioritizes the settlement of long-pending revenue matters and urged officials to address field-related challenges without delay.
The status of cases pending for over two years was also reviewed, with officers presenting relevant updates. The DC reminded revenue officers of their responsibility to ensure smooth service delivery and address public grievances efficiently. He urged them to work proactively and uphold good governance.

Timely issuance of death certificates

Expressing concern over delays in issuing death certificates to victims of the Samej tragedy, DC Kashyap termed the situation unfortunate. He instructed the Rampur Sub-Divisional Magistrate to issue the pending certificates at the earliest.
Additionally, he noted that beneficiaries in Chopal had not yet received the third instalment of the special relief package, despite funds being released to all SDMs. He directed the Chopal SDM to ensure immediate disbursement.
The DC also raised concerns about illegal mining under the pretext of land development in several areas of the district. He instructed SDMs to conduct inspections and take necessary action against violators.

Inspection of Development Projects

The DC further directed all SDMs to conduct regular inspections of development projects in their respective subdivisions. He mandated that each SDM must personally inspect at least 10% of the projects undertaken by Block Development Officers to ensure quality execution.
During the meeting, officials informed that nine automatic weather stations are planned for installation across the district. Two stations have already been set up in Khalag and Basantpur, while others will be established in Panog (Shoghi), Araha (Narkanda), Jamog (Sunni), Shakrat, Bagain and Thana (Chopal).
