Himachal weather: More rain, snow expected from today, Tabo shivers at -14.7°C

Himachal Pradesh welcomed the New Year with clear skies, but the weather is expected to change soon.
The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and snowfall in the higher and mid-hill regions of the state from Thursday (January 2, 2024).
According to the forecast, areas in the upper and mid-elevations could experience rain on January 2 and 3. From January 4 to 7, scattered rain and snowfall are expected across various parts of the state.

5 towns record sub-zero temperature

Himachal Pradesh continues to battle freezing conditions, with five towns recording temperatures below zero. Tabo remained the coldest at -14.7°C, followed by Samdo at -9.3°C, Kukumseri at -6.9°C, Keylong at -6.2°C, and Kalpa at -2.0°C.

Chilly nights across Himachal

Other towns also recorded low temperatures, reflecting the ongoing cold wave.
Shimla registered 9.6°C, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar saw minimums of 3.1°C and 2.1°C, respectively. Dharamshala recorded 5.8°C, Una 3.2°C, Nahan 6.6°C and Palampur 6.2°C.
Manali, a popular tourist destination where hotels are currently packed with tourists, recorded a minimum of 2.8°C, and Mandi stood at 4.1°C.
Temperatures in other regions include Bilaspur at 6.4°C, Hamirpur at 4.6°C, Chamba at 6.4°C, Dalhousie at 8.7°C, Kufri at 7.4°C, Narkanda at 4.5°C, and Bharmour at 5.3°C. Rekong Peo recorded a chilling 0.4°C, while Sarahan and Bajoura registered 0.7°C and 1.7°C, respectively.
