In a significant development for Chamba’s Pangi Valley in Himachal Pradesh, a new truck-mounted snow blower machine has been introduced to efficiently clear snow during the harsh winters.
The machine, purchased by the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 2.11 crore, was flagged off by the Resident Commissioner of Pangi, Raman Garsangi.
Traditionally, JCB machines were used for snow removal, a process that was time-consuming. The new snow blower machine promises to speed up snow clearance, enabling quicker restoration of blocked roads in the valley, ensuring better connectivity, and improving emergency services during the winter months.
The machine is expected to be a crucial asset in tackling the valley’s challenging terrain and will provide much-needed relief to local residents. Pangi Tehsildar Shanta Kumar, Executive Engineer Ravi Sharma and other officials were present for the event.
The advanced snow blower works by using powerful rotating blades to blow snow off the roads, making it particularly effective in high-altitude and snow-prone regions with difficult terrain. This modern equipment is expected to significantly improve road accessibility during winters, enhance emergency services and provide relief to local residents who often face disruptions due to severe weather conditions.
