Himachal to get Rs 189.20 crore from Centre for rain relief measures

SHIMLA: The Union Home Ministry has disbursed Rs 5,858.60 crore to 14 flood-affected states as part of the central share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and as an advance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Himachal Pradesh is set to receive Rs 189.20 crore as an advance from this allocation to aid in its flood recovery.
Apart from financial aid, the central government has extended logistical support to all affected states. This includes the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Army teams, along with aerial assistance from the Indian Air Force, to manage rescue and relief operations in flood-hit regions.
Central teams assess damage
To ensure a comprehensive response, inter-ministerial central teams were dispatched to assess the on-ground damage in flood-affected states, including Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Gujarat, Telangana and Manipur. These assessments will determine the extent of additional financial assistance needed, which will be approved based on the reports submitted by the teams.
As states like Himachal Pradesh struggle to recover from the severe flooding that disrupted lives and infrastructure, the advance financial aid comes as a timely intervention. The government is expected to approve further assistance from the NDRF to address the long-term impact of the floods on affected communities.
“This financial and logistical support from the Centre underscores the government’s commitment to helping states mitigate the damage caused by natural disasters and rebuild their infrastructure swiftly,” said an official.
