Tirthan Valley’s Bold Educational Comeback: Reviving Futures Post-Pandemic!

Mandi: A remarkable transformation is taking place in education at Tirthan Valley. In 2020, as schools closed and learning came to a standstill, a modest yet impactful initiative emerged, providing a lifeline to local students. Spearheaded by Parth Palkhe and supported by Mr. Panki Sood, this initiative has blossomed into a full-scale educational movement that is revitalizing the region.
Arriving in Tirthan Valley with just a motorcycle and a vision, Parth’s journey began in September 2020. With Mr. Sood offering him shelter and sustenance, the duo set their sights on launching the Sunshine Learning Centre. Their goal was simple yet profound: to provide education and mentorship to children affected by the pandemic. By January 2021, the Sunshine Learning Centre had officially evolved into a registered not-for-profit organization, serving as a beacon of hope for the valley’s children.
Initially, Parth operated as the sole full-time staff member, relying on the commitment of dedicated volunteers. However, as word spread and the initiative gained momentum, the project welcomed new team members, including architect Devanshi Shah and local hire Chandni Bisht.
Their combined efforts breathed new life into the Mungla centre, resulting in a significant increase in student enrollment. Today, the organization provides educational support to around 70 students across three active centres.
Recognizing the importance of holistic education, the initiative emphasizes both academic and life skills. Students participate in workshops on various topics, such as website development and financial literacy, equipping them with practical tools for the future. Moreover, teachers dedicate time to improving their methodologies, benefiting from partnerships that enhance the educational experience.
Looking to the future, plans are underway to establish hostels for girls, addressing a critical need for safe educational spaces in the area. With over 500 students positively impacted, this educational movement continues to inspire aspirations and empower the community toward a brighter future. As Tirthan Valley evolves, so too does the promise of education, turning challenges into catalysts for change.
