HAMIRPUR: For the past three months, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s home constituency Nadaun and the district of Hamirpur have been under the spotlight due to a series of Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids.
Social media was abuzz a few days ago with reports of another ED raid in Nadaun. According to reliable sources in Hamirpur, Shimla and Delhi, the ED has taken a crusher owner, whose business operates near the border of Nadaun and Jwalaji, into custody.
ED officials arrived at his house and took him to Delhi for questioning. However, no official information has been shared with the media so far.
Accountant questioned days earlier
The latest development follows an earlier incident when the ED detained the crusher owner’s accountant from Nadaun and took him to Delhi for questioning. After interrogation, the accountant returned to Nadaun. Four days later, the ED returned, seized records relating to the crusher owner’s mining lease and properties and subsequently took the owner to Delhi for questioning.
3 notices went unanswered
Sources said the ED had previously issued three notices to the crusher owner after July 4, which went unanswered. As a result, the ED executed the raid. It is worth noting that this case is considered high-profile as the crusher owner is a close associate of a prominent political figure, causing further commotion within the political circles.

Investigation expands to mining officer
The case is not limited to the businessman alone. Reports suggest that a mining officer has also been brought under investigation by the ED. The same crusher owner became a subject of attention during the Lok Sabha elections and subsequent byelections. It was revealed that while most crushers in lower Himachal were shut down, this particular crusher remained operational, supplying materials for key construction projects.
