Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that jobs on compassionate grounds would be provided to widows or their children within a deadline of nine months.
Chief Minister Sukhu said the decision was part of the Congress government’s ongoing efforts to support families affected by the loss of their breadwinner.
To ensure effective implementation of this initiative, he said, a cabinet sub-committee, headed by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, had been tasked with drafting a detailed report within six months.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the committee would also seek inputs from MLAs, including constructive suggestions from Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur. These inputs would be incorporated into the final report to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive policy, he said.
The Congress government, said Chief Minister Sukhu, had already made significant strides in the area, providing 180 jobs on compassionate grounds within the past year. “This announcement further reinforces the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of those who have lost their primary earning member and ensuring their economic stability,” he said.
