Social Media Erupts in Frustration Over CM’s Announcements

independence day

Dehra/Dharamshala: All eyes were on Dehra as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu arrived to preside over the state-level Independence Day function. However, moments after his announcements, social media was flooded with negative comments across various pages, groups, and private accounts, with many criticizing the lack of substantial news. Dehra, represented by CM’s wife Kamlesh Thakur, was chosen for the state-level event on Thursday.

One social media user, Rattan Lal Mahajan, expressed disappointment on the Himachal Karamchari Mahasang Facebook page, stating, “Himachal employees received nothing on this auspicious occasion despite high expectations. At the very least, the announcement for ACP 4/9/14 should have been made, as time-bound promotions have been long overdue.”

Responding to this, another user, Rajan Gemtta, likely concerned about the unemployed youth, remarked, “What do employees need? They’re not starving, but what about the unemployed?”

Sanjay Thakur, another disillusioned citizen, voiced his concerns: “Just wait and see what happens next. Salaries will be halted, and then NGO leaders will realize how blind loyalty has ruined employees for their own gain. There’s still time—unite now, or else there will be no DA, no annual increment, and no salary. So what’s the point of a government job? Think about it…”

Thakur’s comments hinted at the notion that Congress only came to power with the support of government employees.

A leader of an employee union, speaking anonymously, commented, “Congress had no organizational setup like BJP, but they defeated them solely because employees backed them. At that time, Jairam Thakur’s statements alienated employees. If the party changes the face of the CM, employees could turn towards BJP.”

Some government employees from Dehra also expressed disappointment, saying they had voted for Congress with the hope that the Chief Minister would deliver on promises, but nothing significant has been done.
