The job aspirants for the JOA-IT post code 817 have been staging a protest outside the office of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission in Hamirpur due to the delay in the declaration of their results.
In response to the ongoing protests, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the cabinet had already approved the release of the post code 817 results.
The Chief Minister said that the documentation for the aspirants had been completed and the commission would soon be instructed to release the results.
He emphasised that whether the aspirants protest or not would not impact the result declaration. He said the government had already decided that the results would be released promptly.
Braving scorching heat, JOA-IT candidates continued their relay hunger strike in front of the Staff Selection Commission office near Pakka Bharo in Hamirpur. The protesters have vowed not to leave until their results are declared and their deployment in various departments is announced.
The Chief Administrator of the commission, RK Puruthi, stated that the results were being prepared, with an ongoing investigation to ensure there are no technical flaws. He assured that the results would be announced within a week. However, the candidates, who have gathered from all over the state, seem skeptical of this assurance.
Determined to press their demands, they have pitched tents outside the commission’s office and are resolved to continue their “now or never” battle. Approximately 5,000 youths are awaiting these results.
Under the JOA recruitment, 1,867 posts are to be filled in different state departments. Candidates have been waiting for jobs in this category for about three and a half years, having taken the exam on March 21, 2021.
Despite the passage of a considerable amount of time, the results are yet to be declared. The ongoing strike highlights the growing frustration and impatience among the candidates and unemployed youth of the state.
