Himachal weather: Orange alert for heavy rain issued in 4 districts on July 22-23

The Meteorological Centre-Shimla has issued yellow and orange alerts for heavy rain across various parts of Himachal Pradesh over the next five days. The alerts follow rainfall in several areas on Friday night, with Nahan receiving 60.4 mm, Bilaspur 8.4 mm, Kasauli 3 mm, Paonta Sahib 1.4 mm and Salapad 1.1 mm.

According to the weather forecast, there is a yellow alert for heavy rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh on July 20, 21 and 24. An orange alert indicating heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for July 22 and 23. Rainfall is expected to persist in many regions until July 26. Capital Shimla experienced fog with light sunshine on Saturday morning.

Minimum temperature
The minimum temperatures recorded in key locations are as follows: Shimla 17.8°C, Sundernagar 24°C, Bhuntar 23.2°C, Kalpa 15.1°C, Dharamshala 21°C, Una 23.6°C, Nahan 23.1°C, Keylong 14.4°C, Palampur 19.5°C, Solan 20.6°C, Manali 20°C, Kangra 23.7°C, Mandi 25.5°C, Bilaspur 26°C, Hamirpur 27.4°C, Chamba 23.4°C, Dalhousie 15.4°C, Kufri 15.6°C, Kukumseri 12.1°C, Narkanda 13.7°C, Reckong Peo 20.1°C, Kasauli 15.1°C, Paonta Sahib 26°C, Tabo 13.2°C, Sainj 22.7°C and Bajaura 23.8°C.

Orange alert in specific districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain specifically for the districts of Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur. A yellow alert remains in place for other districts, except for Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. Most parts of the state are expected to experience rainfall on July 26.

In Manali, the new building of the Circuit House suffered significant damage when a cedar tree fell on its roof due to strong winds on Friday evening. Although there were no casualties, the building’s roof was heavily damaged. The tree, which had been weakened by a storm five months ago, had been inspected by various departments for potential removal. However, due to procedural delays, the tree was not cut down in time.
