A three-day in-house training programme for teachers on “Indian Knowledge Tradition and the Values of Education” was inaugurated today, August 11, at Maharishi Vidya Mandir School, Khatehar, Dharamshala.
The programme opened with Guru Pujan, followed by sessions of Pranayama and meditation involving all teachers. The first day’s theme focused on Indian Knowledge Tradition and Educational Values. The session was attended by Principal Arun Kumar Sharma along with 18 teachers.
Resource Person Ms. Preeti Singh highlighted the depth of India’s knowledge heritage, emphasizing that it extends beyond book learning to values such as truth, discipline, morality, self-awareness, respect for nature, the Guru-Shishya tradition, and holistic personality development. She stressed that education should nurture ethical conduct, positive thinking, and life skills, not just academic knowledge.
Teachers engaged in activities and discussions, gaining insights into how these values can be integrated into classroom practices. Principal Sharma also encouraged teachers to impart these values to students, reinforcing the importance of value-based education.
The three-day programme aims to enrich teachers’ knowledge, enhance teaching skills, and support professional as well as personal growth, while strengthening the integration of Indian values into modern education.
