Consumers feel pinch as Himachal Milk Fed hikes prices of ghee, butter, paneer by up to ₹50

The Newz Radar

MANDI: The Himachal Pradesh Milk Federation has increased the price of ghee, butter and paneer products.

The consumers will now have to pay significantly more for these staples, although milk prices remain unchanged. The cost of Him Ghee has risen from ₹650 to ₹700 per litre. Butter prices have increased from ₹550 to ₹580 per kg, a hike of ₹30. Paneer now costs ₹360 per kg, up from ₹340, reflecting a ₹20 rise.

According to Sandeep Thakur, Marketing Manager of the Milk Federation, these new rates have been implemented from June 20. The Milk Federation operates over 150 sales centres across the state, supplying a large number of consumers with these essential products.

The price hikes have sparked discontent among consumers. Consumers have voiced their opposition, arguing that such significant increases alienate the common man from these everyday products. They urge the government to roll back the prices to their previous levels.
Despite the hike, the Milk Federation has maintained the prices of its packaged milk, yogurt, Him Khoya, buttermilk, and flavoured milk products. Him Khoya remains at ₹340 per kg, buttermilk at ₹20, Him yogurt at ₹70, loose yogurt at ₹65, milk at ₹60 and flavoured milk at ₹30.
Consumers are feeling the pinch of these price hikes, and the call for the government to reconsider the decision is growing louder. As the demand for Milk Fed’s products remains high, the impact of these price changes will be closely watched by both consumers and the industry.
