The Surjeet Memorial Cricket Tournament concluded on Monday at Gaddha Nala in Gram Panchayat Poolan. The closing ceremony was graced by Angrez Kapoor, President of BJP Chaurasi Mandal Bharmaur, who attended as the chief guest.
In the final match, Bharmaur Cricket Team defeated Shirdi Cricket Team. Bharmaur set a target of 65 runs, while Shirdi was bowled out for 46 runs. The chief guest honored the winning team and all participating teams with mementos.
Addressing the gathering, Kapoor administered an oath to the 12 participating teams and spectators to work towards eradicating the menace of drug abuse in society. He urged the youth to stay away from narcotics and encouraged them to report any involvement in drug consumption or trafficking directly to the Panchayat Pradhan. He assured that the identity of informants would remain confidential.
In a unique initiative, the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Poolan announced a cash reward of ₹20,000 for those providing credible information about drug trafficking. This move has been widely appreciated in the region.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, spectators, and community members, making the tournament not only a sporting celebration but also a platform for social awareness.
