Punjab Kings cut IPL ticket prices for May 4 Dharamshala match after outcry by fans over high rates

Dharamshala: In a move that has come as a welcome surprise for cricket fans, Punjab Kings have reduced ticket prices for their upcoming IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 4 at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala.

The franchise has cited affordability and better stadium access for fans as the reason behind the price cut.
Online ticket sales for the match opened on Monday and within 45 minutes, five stands priced at ₹1,200 and ₹1,500 were sold out, showing high demand, especially for the more affordable categories.

Lowest ticket now ₹1,200 – ₹300 cheaper than last year

Last year, the cheapest IPL ticket at the Dharamshala stadium was priced at ₹1,500, with four stands offering entry at that rate.
This time, the starting price has dropped to ₹1,200, but only one stand (West Stand-3) is available at that price.

Despite limited availability, it sold out within just 30 minutes of opening. Other ticket slabs currently available online are ₹1,500, ₹3,500 and ₹6,000.
Tickets for premium sections like the Pavilion Terrace and Club Lounge have not yet been opened for booking.

Punjab Kings’ management has clearly aimed at making matches more accessible to fans, particularly after feedback on last year’s higher ticket rates. However, fans will still have to pay additional GST and ticketing charges at checkout.

Prices may rise based on demand

While the initial price reduction has been appreciated by fans, officials have indicated that ticket prices may rise in the coming days depending on demand.
Similar pricing dynamics are also expected for Punjab Kings’ other matches scheduled on May 8 and May 11.

The combination of more affordable rates and the picturesque setting of Dharamshala has already sparked high enthusiasm, with thousands rushing online to secure their seats.
