Kangra: One of the most awaited legs of the “Asmita Khelo India Weightlifting Women League 2025”, being organised across more than 50 major cities in the country, is scheduled to take place on July 27, 2025, at the prestigious Himachal Institute of Engineering and Technology (HIET), Shahpur, in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
The league is being held under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, as part of the Khelo India initiative, with the objective of encouraging female participation in sports and providing them with a strong national-level platform.
The competition is being hosted at the Dhauladhar Weightlifting Academy, which is operated within the HIET campus. The academy has become a hub for nurturing youth and female athletes by providing them with quality training and a professional sports environment.
This national-level competition is a strong step towards women empowerment and the promotion of athletic talent in the field of weightlifting. The league provides a golden opportunity for emerging women lifters from across the nation to exhibit their strength, skill and dedication.
On the occasion, international weightlifting referee Pradeep Sharma, general secretary of Himachal Weightlifting Sangh Raj Kumar and Managing Director of HIET Group Dushyant Kayastha jointly extended heartfelt thanks to Sahdev Yadav, president of the Indian Weightlifting Sangh, for his immense support and for enabling such an event to take place in Himachal Pradesh.
They stated that this is a matter of great pride for the entire state. It is due to the dedicated efforts of Sahdev Yadav that events of such magnitude are being organized in Himachal, making the state’s name resonate across the nation. As a result of his efforts, talented weightlifters from various backgrounds are now emerging from Himachal and making their mark on the national stage.
HIET-Shahpur feels honoured to host this important league. The management and organising team have completed all arrangements with precision to ensure that athletes are provided with the best facilities and an inspiring environment to compete.
Women lifters from across India will participate and display their power and performance. This event will not only promote weightlifting but also inspire local youth, especially girls, to pursue sports with confidence and ambition.
Dushyant Kayastha, Managing Director of HIET-Group, shared that such events are crucial in putting Himachal Pradesh, particularly Kangra, on the national sports map. He appealed to all sports enthusiasts and local residents to attend the event in large numbers and cheer for the participants.
