Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh BJP MLAs, under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, staged a march at the Tapovan Assembly complex in Dharamshala on the third day of the ongoing four-day session, protesting over alleged lack of employment.
Raising slogans against the government, the BJP MLAs held posters and rallied through the Assembly premises before staging a sit-in near Gate Number 1 of the complex.
The BJP MLAs raised concerns about unemployment, urging the government to introduce a guest teacher policy, provide jobs on a compassionate basis, fulfill its promise of creating five lakh jobs, and reinstate outsourced employees who had been dismissed.
Speaking at the protest, Jai Ram Thakur accused the ruling government of failing to address the state’s employment crisis and neglecting promises made to the youth during the elections. He said, “This government has turned a blind eye to the aspirations of our young generation. The lack of concrete policies is pushing the youth into despair.”
The BJP also demanded immediate action on policy reforms and transparency in the recruitment process, alleging mismanagement and delays in job allocations. As the four-day session continues, these protests are expected to intensify, with BJP legislators asserting they will not relent until the government provides a satisfactory response.
While the opposition protested outside, heated discussions on employment and the reinstatement of outsourced employees marked the session’s proceedings. The ruling government defended its position, stating it was taking proactive steps to address unemployment and revamp policies. However, BJP members dismissed these claims as hollow assurances.
