Sudesh Kumar Rana, a native of Bahalu village in Sandhole area of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh, has been awarded the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Republic Day 2025.
The honour recognises his exceptional contribution to the nation through his role in security and law enforcement.
Career marked by excellence in elite agencies
Sudesh Kumar Rana’s career has been nothing short of exemplary. Currently serving as Second-in-Command at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Headquarters, he has held key roles in India’s top agencies, including the Special Protection Group (SPG), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
His outstanding performance has earned him accolades such as the SPG Director’s Gold Disc, the CBI Director’s Commendation Certificate and the NIA Director General’s Commendation Certificate.
Recognition for meritorious services
This is not the first time Sudesh Kumar Rana has been recognised for his service.
In 2014 as well, he was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Over the years, his leadership and dedication have won him numerous other honours, including the Jammu & Kashmir DGP’s Commendation Certificate and ITBP Director General’s Three-Star Gold Disc.
