Himachal bus carrying pilgrims to Mahakumbh meets with accident in UP; 32 injured, 8 critically

As many as 32 pilgrims from Solan district in Himachal Pradesh were injured, eight of them critically, when the bus they were travelling in to Prayagraj Mahakumbh met with an accident at Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh late on Monday (January 27, 2025).
According to information, the bus was carrying pilgrims from Kunihar in Solan district and collided with a Hydra crane near Kaushambi-Fatehpur border.
The private mini-bus was carrying 40 devotees to the sacred Sangam in Prayagraj when the collision occurred on National Highway-2. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital in Kaushambi from where the right critically hurt were rushed to a medical college for advanced care.

CM Sukhu expresses condolences

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his sorrow over the incident. Taking to social media platform X, he posted, “The news of a private bus from Himachal Pradesh heading to Prayagraj Mahakumbh meeting with an accident in Kaushambi is extremely saddening. I have instructed state officials to remain in constant contact with Uttar Pradesh authorities to ensure all necessary assistance is provided to the injured. Praying for their speedy recovery.”

The injured include Babita (45), Neela Devi (60), Chandrakala (60), Parvati (62), Sita (55), Kavita (47), Vimla Devi (58), Dayapati (54), Mamta (30), Aashvi (25), Baburam (65), Meena Sharma (48), Mahendra Sharma (50), Roopram (40), Lekhraj (51), Bablu (39), Leela Devi (60), Mamta Sharma (50), Nar Devi (45), Godavari (70), Dhanpati Devi (65), Pavita Devi (20), Tulsiram (75) and Roopram (40).
The local authorities have assured of support for the injured pilgrims. The critically injured are receiving advanced treatment at the medical college, while others are under close medical observation.
