Dharamshala:
The residents of Dharamshala town will face water supply disruption on Saturday (August 30, 2025) after a major pipeline carrying water from the Naddi Water Treatment Plant to Dharamshala broke down.

The breakdown, caused by subsidence and landslides, has also damaged several parts of the distribution network, according to an official statement. Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Water Supply Department said that due to the extent of the damage, it is not possible to provide water supply across the town today.

The official further said that restoration work had already begun, with teams deputed on the site to carry out emergency repairs.

“Due to land settlement and slides, the main supply line has been severely impacted and several distribution channels are also affected. Our staff is working to restore the system at the earliest, but water supply will remain suspended for today,” the statement read.

The disruption is expected to cause inconvenience to thousands of residents as Dharamshala relies heavily on the supply from the Naddi plant for its daily requirements. Authorities have urged citizens to use available water judiciously until supply is restored.
