Mandi: A major accident took place on the Chandigarh-Manali Highway early Sunday morning when a Volvo bus, en route from Delhi to Kasol, collided with a hill and overturned near Char Mil, between Mandi and Pandoh. The incident occurred around 4:00 AM, leaving at least 30 passengers injured.
The bus, carrying 38 passengers, was traveling along a dangerous stretch of the highway when it lost control and veered off the road, slamming into a hillside before flipping over. Local authorities confirmed that six of the injured were admitted to the Zonal Hospital in Mandi, where they are receiving medical attention. Two passengers, in critical condition, have been referred to Nerchowk Medical College from the Mandi hospital for further treatment.

The remaining passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated on-site. According to initial reports, the accident appears to have been caused by the bus’s excessive speed, though investigations are ongoing.
Police personnel quickly arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations, evacuating the injured and ensuring the safety of others nearby. An official investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on the Chandigarh-Manali Highway, a route frequently used by tourists traveling to popular destinations in Himachal Pradesh. Further updates are awaited as the authorities continue their investigation.
