Collective Singing Marks 150 Years of India’s National Song in Shimla

Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, participated in a collective singing of India’s national song Vande Mataram in Devbhoomi Himachal’s Shimla today, marking the beginning of its 150th anniversary celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Thakur said, “Vande Mataram has played an unparalleled role in inspiring our national heroes during India’s struggle for unity, integrity, and independence. As the song completes 150 glorious years, we must express our gratitude to the freedom fighters and visionaries who embedded it into the soul of our nation.”
He added, “Vande Bharat is not just our national song—it is the living spirit of our nation. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, as we work towards a self-reliant and developed India, this song becomes the guiding mantra of our actions and aspirations.”
Shri Thakur emphasized that the 150th anniversary is not merely a moment to reflect on history, but a call to embrace the spirit of Swadeshi in thought, word, and deed—a foundation upon which the grand vision of a developed India will rise.
Describing Vande Mataram as a deeply emotional force flowing through every Indian heart, he said, “It connects us to the soil, fragrance, and identity of our motherland.” He also lauded the Prime Minister’s gesture of releasing a commemorative coin and postage stamp in honor of the national song, calling it a tribute to the song’s legacy and the heroes who upheld it.
Shri Thakur urged citizens across the country to actively participate in the nationwide Vande Mataram singing events being held from November 7 to Constitution Day on November 26, as a mark of respect and dedication to the nation and its national song.
