Infrastructure development for the upcoming Bulk Drug Park at Polian Beet in Haroli subdivision of Una district has gathered significant momentum, with works worth over ₹200 crore currently underway and key utility components nearing completion, officials said on Tuesday.

The progress was reviewed in a high-level meeting held on the directions of the Industries Minister. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Yunus, Commissioner of Industries-cum-Chief Executive Officer of Himachal Pradesh Bulk Drug Park Infrastructure Limited (HPBDPIL), in the presence of Sh. Tilak Raj Sharma, Additional Director of Industries-cum-Additional CEO, HPBDPIL. Senior officers from Public Works, Power, Jal Shakti, Forest, and transmission utilities participated in the review.

Industries Secretary, while underlining the strategic importance of the project, stated that the Bulk Drug Park is a flagship industrial initiative of the state and its timely execution is critical for strengthening Himachal Pradesh’s position in pharmaceutical manufacturing. He stressed the need for close inter-departmental coordination to ensure that infrastructure bottlenecks do not delay the operational timeline.

Providing details on water infrastructure, Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Vibhag, Sh. Naresh Dhiman informed that the work for providing a dedicated 15 million litres per day (MLD) water supply to the Bulk Drug Park site is nearly complete. “About 95 per cent of the work has already been executed, and the remaining components will be completed shortly. The system is expected to be fully operational by the end of March 2026,” he said, adding that this would ensure uninterrupted water supply for upcoming industrial units.

On power connectivity, Executive Engineer, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), Sh. Rahul Puri said that the upgradation of the Gurpalah sub-station has been completed. “Transmission infrastructure required to feed power to the Bulk Drug Park is currently under execution. We are targeting completion of arrangements for a 10 MVA power supply by April 2026,” he informed.

Forest-related clearances and site preparation also figured prominently in the review. Divisional Forest Officer, Sh. Sushil Rana stated that tree enumeration is progressing as per schedule. “Enumeration work for four khasra numbers in Village Manuwal has been completed, and necessary permissions for tree felling have already been obtained,” he said.

Executive Engineer, Himachal Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (HPSIDC), informed that the tender process for tree felling has been completed, bids have been received, and the felling work will be initiated shortly to facilitate further development at the site.

Road connectivity to the Bulk Drug Park was another key focus area. Dr. Yunus informed that the High-Powered Committee has decided that the access road—from the administrative block at Panjuwana to the Bulk Drug Park site at Village Kuthar Beet—will be executed by the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (HPPWD). “Necessary directions have already been issued to the department to ensure early commencement of construction,” he said.

Following the meeting, the senior officers conducted a field inspection of the rising mains and charging structures associated with the water supply scheme. Dr. Yunus expressed satisfaction over the quality and pace of work being carried out by the Jal Shakti Vibhag and emphasized adherence to timelines.

Reiterating the broader economic impact of the project, Dr. Yunus said the Bulk Drug Park is expected to significantly boost pharmaceutical manufacturing, reduce dependence on imports, and generate substantial employment opportunities in the region. He directed all departments to expedite pending works while maintaining prescribed quality and environmental standards.

The meeting concluded with all departments reaffirming their commitment to accelerate execution. HPBDPIL will continue to monitor progress through periodic reviews to ensure the project remains on track.
