Police in Chamba district seized 10 boxes of illicit liquor during routine patrolling and vehicle checking on Sunday evening.
According to DSP Dalhousie Mayank Sharma, ASI Sunil Kumar, Incharge PP Bakloh of Police Station Chowari, along with his team, was conducting vehicle checks at Zero Point Link Road Khairi around 5:15 PM. During the operation, a Winger vehicle (registration number HP01C1112) driven by Anuj Kumar, son of Kishan Chand, resident of Village Luthnu, Post Office Bathri, Tehsil Dalhousie, was stopped for inspection.
On initial observation, objectionable items were noticed inside the vehicle. A thorough search in the presence of witnesses and the police party led to the recovery of 10 boxes of “Country Liquor Marka Una No. 1.” The driver failed to produce any valid documents, licence, or permit for transporting the liquor.
Following the recovery, ASI Sunil Kumar prepared a Rukka and sent it to Police Station Chowari for registration of an FIR. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, and further investigation is underway.
