Highlights how Union Budget 2025 directly benefits hill state
MANDI: BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh launched a scathing attack on Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stating that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was dedicated to the development of the nation and the state, the Sukhu government was “busy counting samosas”.
Tarun Chugh emphasised that the Union Budget 2025 was a game-changer, paving the way for a developed India while ensuring significant benefits for Himachal Pradesh.
Highlighting the key takeaways for Himachal, Tarun Chugh said that the budget would bring direct benefits to more than 2.5 lakh employees in the state.

The major gains include:
• Employees earning up to ₹12,75,000 annually will not have to pay any income tax, providing substantial financial relief.
• Massive improvements in the road network across the state, ensuring better connectivity and smoother travel.
• Himachal to benefit from the 55 key tourist destinations identified nationwide, giving a major boost to the state’s tourism sector.
• Himachal becomes the first state where senior citizens will receive top-up health insurance under Ayushman Bharat, offering enhanced medical coverage.
• Between 2014 and 2024, Himachal received ₹54,000 crore in tax grants, whereas under the Congress regime (2004-2014), it received only ₹12,639 crore.
• The Modi government has granted Himachal nearly three times more funds than the previous Congress administration, accelerating development in infrastructure, tourism, and healthcare.
• The Zojila-Leh Connectivity Project will significantly improve transport facilities in Himachal and the entire northern region.
• Special incentives for MSMEs, creating better opportunities for small industries and self-employment in the state.
• Farmers in Himachal will continue to receive financial aid under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
Accuses Congress govt of playing politics over development
Tarun Chugh further stated that while the Modi government was dedicated to the development of Himachal, the Congress regime was allegedly neglecting the real concerns of the people.
He accused the Congress of trying to seize temple assets, whereas Modi’s government is working towards the renovation and upliftment of temples.
He expressed confidence that Budget 2025 would improve the quality of life for the people of Himachal and open doors to new opportunities, setting the state on a path to long-term progress.
