Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu departed from Shimla for Delhi on Monday (April 7, 2025) afternoon from where he is set to travel to Ahmedabad in Gujarat for the Congress National Convention that will begin on Tuesday.
Himachal CM Sukhu will be attending the event, which is expected to bring significant discussions regarding the party’s future.
Before his departure to Delhi, CM Sukhu stated, “I will adhere to any instructions issued during the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session. Clearly, for the next four to five days, I will not be available to meet the public of the state.”
CWC meeting scheduled at Sardar Patel Memorial
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting is scheduled to take place at the Sardar Patel Memorial at Shahibaug in Ahmedabad.
On April 9, the AICC convention will be held, during which important decisions concerning the strengthening of the party will be made. The outcomes of these decisions will be directed to party workers for implementation at the grassroots level.
Apart from CM Sukhu, other prominent leaders from Himachal Pradesh, including Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, Congress state president Pratibha Singh and former state president and AICC spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore, will also participate in the convention in Ahmedabad.
CM may return to Himachal on April 10
CM Sukhu and Pratibha Singh are expected to attend the CWC meeting tomorrow.
Sources said that during this time, CM Sukhu and Congress president Pratibha Singh may hold meetings with top leaders regarding Himachal Congress organisational matters.
The state Congress, which has been struggling to form an effective organisation for the past five months, might discuss crucial issues.
It is expected that CM Sukhu will return to Shimla on the evening of April 10 or the morning of April 11.
