A student-led environmental initiative titled ‘Harit Vasudha’ has been launched at the campus of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University (CSK HPKV), Palampur. The initiative aims to promote environmental cleanliness, awareness and sustainable development within the university campus.
‘Harit Vasudha’ is entirely driven by students and focuses on daily cleanliness activities and environmental awareness programmes. Through this initiative, students are taking an active role in keeping the campus clean and green while encouraging a sense of environmental responsibility and collective participation among the student community.
At present, the initiative is being run by a team of 16 student office-bearers, supported by around 40 active student members and senior student mentors. All members are voluntarily involved in activities related to environmental protection and campus cleanliness.
While the initiative remains completely student-led and student-managed, it also receives academic guidance from university faculty members, ensuring alignment with broader educational and environmental goals.
Founder student advisor Ankit Kaudal stated that the primary objective of ‘Harit Vasudha’ is to connect students with environmental responsibility in their daily lives. He added that there are plans to further organise and expand the initiative in the future so that its vision aligns more closely with long-term goals of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Sharing his experience, student member Aditya Thakur said that students are joining the initiative voluntarily and are enthusiastic about contributing towards a cleaner campus and greater environmental awareness.
The long-term vision of ‘Harit Vasudha’ is to develop into a platform where students can play an active role in environmental conservation and contribute meaningfully to building a clean, green, and sustainable university campus.
