Chamba: The quiet village of Magnui in Kakira Zari Panchayat burst into celebration today as Ashish, son of a humble farmer, achieved remarkable success by securing selection as an Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer through the Allied Services Examination 2024–25.

Ashish, the son of Kewal Singh, was welcomed with flowers, tilak, and heartfelt embraces when he returned to his village around 11:30 AM. His mother, Sheela Devi, showered petals on him, and his father proudly hugged him, saying he had brought great honor to the family through his unwavering hard work.

In an emotional gathering, Ashish’s family and villagers—along with local leaders including Zari Panchayat Vice President Sandeep Thapa and Himachal Yuva Shakti President Sanjay Kapoor—joined in the celebration, offering sweets and organizing a community refreshment.

Ashish shared that he began his education at Government Primary School Barela, continued through Class 12 at the Government Senior Secondary School Kakira, and graduated from MCM DAV College, Kangra. His real battle began in 2021, facing two near misses in the Himachal Administrative Services exam.

Despite setbacks, Ashish remained resilient. “This year’s Allied Services exam was the turning point,” he said, “and with tireless preparation—studying up to 12 hours a day—I secured Rank 31.” He dedicated his success to his parents, elder sister, teachers, friends, and faith, emphasizing the unparalleled support of his family.

Ashish’s story is one of perseverance, humility, and the unwavering spirit of rural India striving for excellence.
