A devastating landslide struck Sundernagar’s Jangambagh area late Tuesday, claiming six lives and leaving one person still missing. Rescue teams worked through the night, recovering bodies from the debris of two houses that were completely buried under the collapse.

According to officials, five of the deceased were residents of the affected homes, while the sixth victim was a passerby on a scooter who was caught in the landslide’s path. During the operation, parts of the scooter and another vehicle were found, prompting authorities to continue searching for the individual believed to have been inside the vehicle at the time of the disaster.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sundernagar confirmed that all available resources have been mobilized to locate the missing person and support the bereaved families. “Our teams are working round-the-clock despite challenging weather and terrain,” the SDM stated.

The incident has triggered widespread concern across the region, with nearby homes evacuated as a precaution. Continuous rainfall and unstable slopes have heightened fears of further landslides.
