The Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Welfare Association (HPUTWA) held an important meeting today, where members discussed organizational matters and future activities. A key decision was taken to initiate the democratic election process for forming the new executive body for the session 2026–2027.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the association unanimously appointed senior faculty member Prof. Chandermohan Parsheera as the convener of the election committee. Known for his academic experience and impartial approach, Prof. Parsheera will oversee the entire election process, including the announcement of the schedule and monitoring of all procedures.
Supporting him in the committee are Prof. Shiv Kumar Dogra and Prof. Umesh Sharma as co-conveners, along with Dr. Chaman Lal Banga and Dr. Sushila Negi as members. Together, they will prepare the election program in accordance with the association’s constitution, covering nomination dates, scrutiny, withdrawal deadlines, polling, and counting.
The committee has been tasked with completing the election process within fifteen days, ensuring that all 251 registered members—who have joined HPUTWA for the 2026–2027 session—can exercise their voting rights. This growing membership reflects the association’s increasing popularity and trust among university teachers.
Speakers at the meeting emphasized that the strength of any organization lies in its democratic values, transparency, and active participation of members. They expressed confidence that the newly elected executive body will prioritize unresolved issues of teachers, advocate their rights with the university administration and government, and promote academic development.
The meeting concluded with a collective hope that the upcoming elections will be conducted peacefully and transparently, resulting in a strong and active executive body dedicated to safeguarding teachers’ interests and contributing to the intellectual growth of the university.
