Chandigarh: A 35-year-old man from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh was *murdered near the Sector 43 Inter-State Bus Terminal in Chandigarh in a robbery attempt.
The police have arrested two juvenile suspects within 12 hours of the incident.
The victim, identified as Kaku, a resident of Kog village under Mahog post office under Theog tehsil in Shimla district, had come to Chandigarh for personal work.
He was reportedly walking along the cycle track near Sector 43 when two teenagers stopped him and attempted to rob him. After a brief scuffle, they stabbed him in the chest.
The accused reportedly fled with Rs 180 and the victim’s mobile phone. Kaku was rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16 where he was declared brought dead.
Acting on CCTV footage, a team led by Sector 61 police outpost in-charge Gurjeevan Singh identified and arrested the suspects near a school in Kajheri.
Both are aged between 16 and 17 years and reside in the Kajheri area. The police also recovered the murder weapon and the stolen mobile phone.
