Shimla: Senior Congress leaders from Himachal Pradesh have started returning to the state after attending the party’s national convention held this week at Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The conclave, aimed at strategising the party’s future course, comes in the backdrop of significant organisational changes that are set to take place in the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC).
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and leaders like Kewal Pathania, RS Bali and Gokul Butail participated in the two-day session held on April 8-9. This marked the Congress’ first national convention in Gujarat since 1961, underscoring its historical significance.
During the convention, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) met at the historic Sardar Patel Memorial, followed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting along the Sabarmati riverfront. The party adopted the “Nyay-Path” resolution, reaffirming its commitment to justice, social equity and constitutional values.
The return of Himachal’s leaders signals the beginning of efforts to implement the strategies discussed at the convention. Observers note that the coming months will be crucial for the Congress in Himachal Pradesh. The effectiveness of the new executive body and the party’s ability to present a united front will significantly influence its prospects in future elections.
