Chamba: As the plains of northern India reel under scorching summer heat, Saach Pass in the remote Pangi Valley of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh is emerging as a cool escape for travellers.
Nestled amid snow-capped peaks and untouched natural beauty, the tribal region is captivating visitors with its surreal landscapes and lingering snow even in the peak of June.

Located in the Bharmaur Assembly constituency, Saach Pass remains cut off for nearly six months due to heavy snowfall, but during the summer months, it transforms into a scenic wonderland.
Despite the season, several feet of snow still carpet the region, offering tourists a rare opportunity to experience snowfall in summer.

“This place is nothing short of heaven. If there’s one spot on earth that mirrors paradise, it’s Saach Pass,” exclaimed a tourist, awe-struck by the icy spectacle and breathtaking vistas.

In recent days, the region has witnessed a steady influx of tourists, particularly families with children, all seeking respite from the scorching sun. What started as a trip to popular destinations like Dalhousie and Khajjiar turned into an unexpected adventure for many visitors who heard of Saach Pass by word of mouth.

Manali may remain the more famous snowy escape in Himachal, but Saach Pass is quickly becoming a strong contender. Tourists were seen gleefully playing in the snow, clicking selfies and soaking in the panoramic views. The visitors hailed from various states across India, all unanimous in their sentiment — the beauty of Saach Pass was beyond what any travel brochure had promised.

Many vowed to return and to spread the word among friends and relatives about this lesser-known jewel of Chamba.

The local administration is hopeful that increased tourist footfall will boost the economy of the region while also calling for better road infrastructure and facilities to ensure safe and sustainable travel.
