In a major success against drug trafficking, the CIA team of Police District Nurpur recovered 114.2 grams of charas and arrested two accused during an anti-narcotics operation.
While patrolling in the areas of Kandwal, Bhadroya, Damtal, and Channi, the police received a tip-off that two men were sitting near the Excise Barrier on NH-44 at Bhadroya with a carry bag containing a large quantity of charas, intending to sell it.
Acting swiftly, the police team, accompanied by independent witnesses, raided the spot and found two suspects. On questioning, they identified themselves as Baldev (44) and Jeet (40), both residents of village Makan, Post Office Sanwal, Tehsil Churah, District Chamba.
A search of their carry bag led to the recovery of a polythene packet containing 114.2 grams of charas. The contraband was seized and sealed as per legal procedure.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 20 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Damtal, and further investigation is underway.
Police District Nurpur has appealed to the public to cooperate in the ongoing campaign against drugs and to immediately report any suspicious activities to the police.
