Dharamshala: The State Pensioners Association staged a demonstration at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on February 2, presenting various demands.

Ghan Shyam Sharma, a representative of the State Pensioners Association, stated that while government employees receive gifts on Republic Day, this year, on January 25, the government presented pensioners with disappointment by not fulfilling their demands.

Sharma highlighted the demand for the implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission in Himachal Pradesh, extending its benefits to pensioners in the state government, boards, corporations, and the corporate sector.

He specifically urged timely disbursement of pensions to transport pensioners before the 7th of each month.

Another demand put forth was the immediate convening of the Joint Advisory Committee for pensioners. Sharma emphasized the need to clear pending arrears, including modified gratuity, for retired pensioners who served from January 1, 2016 to February 2022.

The protest saw the presence of various officials representing pensioners, with discussions ongoing during the meeting. The association called for prompt action on their demands, emphasizing the importance of addressing the financial concerns of retired individuals in a timely manner.
