SHIMLA: The two-day deadlock between the Himachal Pradesh government and Krsnaa Diagnostics, a government-authorised medical laboratory company performing a variety of pathology tests and X-rays, was resolved on Friday (January 12).
According to sources, negotiations between Krsnaa Diagnostics and the government concluded successfully. Following the resolution, tests of patients have resumed at laboratories operated by Krsnaa Diagnostics in hospitals across the state, including Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla.
The company had suspended operations to protest the non-release of a pending payments amounting to Rs 54 crore for the past nine months. With the government’s assurance, Krsnaa Diagnostics has now resumed the collection and testing of patient samples. The halt in testing for the past two days had posed significant challenges for patients.
At IGMC-Shimla, Krsnaa Diagnostics commenced the process of collecting patient samples and conducting tests, bringing relief to individuals seeking medical diagnoses. Lab operators confirm that they had received directives to proceed with tests. Consequently, the workflow for sample collection and testing is now back on track.
The patients depending on free government services were inconvenienced due to the stoppage of work by Krsnaa Diagnostics. Work by the company was halted from Wednesday due to the failure of the National Health Mission (NHM) to clear its pending payments.
Sources in the government medical department told TNR that letters had been written to the NHM by the company for the releasing of the payment but to no avail. The payment has been made to the company till November for its work in the two tribal districts of the state, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti.
