Of the six disqualified rebel Himachal Congress MLAs, only two, Sudhir Sharma and Rajinder Rana, have been most vocal in their tirade against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, almost daily putting up posts on social media accounts to target him and his government.
Holed up in a resort near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, the six rebels — Rajinder (Sujanpur MLA), Sudhir (Dharamshala), Chaitanya Sharma (Gagret), Ravi Thakur (Lahaul-Spiti), Inder Dutt Lakhanpal (Barsar) and Davinder Bhutto (Kutlehar) — have been awaiting relief from the Supreme Court as their petition against disqualification is to be taken up on March 12, 2024.
On Monday (March 11) as well, Sudhir and Rana put out posts on Facebook to target CM Sukhu over the FIR lodged in Shimla against Chaitanya’s father as well as Independent MLA Ashish Sharma on allegations of horse-trading and attempts to destabilise the state government.
In his Facebook post, Sudhir alleged that nothing great could be expected of him. He posted a picture of a small bird and captioned it as: “यह पिद्दी है… क्या पिद्दी क्या पिद्दी का शोरबा (tiny object that’s of little use).”
Rana too targeted CM Sukhu over the FIR and his ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ slogan.
Battles are not won by attacking from behind like cowards. Real warriors face the frontlines, while cowards lurk in hiding. History is replete with examples that real warriors have confronted challenges head-on while the deceitful rely on lies and trickery. However, their schemes unravel swiftly in the face of conflict. No emperor can secure his throne through intimidation or by fabricating accusations. Time will also hold accountable those who manipulate the legal system and those who fall victim to it. Halting the businesses of elected representatives while enabling corruption among allies—does this signify systemic change?”
For the first time, the six disqualified MLAs and three independent legislators had on Sunday issued a joint statement attacking Chief Minister Sukhu. The leaders alleged that on one hand the Chief Minister was repeatedly approaching them for a compromise and on the other he was comparing them with snakes and sheep, which showed him “mental state”.
