In line with the Himachal Pradesh Government’s Zero Tolerance Against Drugs policy, Nurpur Police continues to deliver strict legal action against narcotics traffickers. Today, the district police achieved another success when the court pronounced judgment in a charas trafficking case.
The Hon’ble Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM), Nurpur, convicted Ramesh Chand alias Totu (son of Jindi, resident of Khadol village, Post Office & Sub‑Tehsil Gangath, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra) and sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000. In default of payment, the convict will undergo additional imprisonment.
The case dates back to October 5, 2017, when FIR No. 304/17 was registered at Police Station Nurpur under Section 20 of the ND&PS Act. Following strong evidence collection and effective prosecution, the court has now sent the offender behind bars.
Public Appeal by Nurpur Police: Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, has urged citizens to support the fight against drugs. Residents are requested to immediately report any suspicious activities, drug trafficking, or illegal sales to the nearest police station or helpline number 112. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
This judgment reinforces Nurpur Police’s commitment to safeguarding youth and society from the menace of drugs.
