Nurpur Police Seize 717 Grams of Charas in Major Anti-Narcotics Operation

Nurpur Police, under its ongoing special campaign against drug trafficking, carried out a major operation on February 16, 2026 in the jurisdiction of Sadauan Police Post.

During a naka (checkpoint) and vehicle inspection at Sadauan Chowk around 5:15 PM, a motorcycle (Honda Shine, registration number HP-48B-6260) was stopped for checking. On seeing the police, the two riders attempted to flee but were apprehended on the spot.

Upon search, 717 grams of charas/cannabis was recovered from the backpack of one of the riders. The contraband along with the motorcycle was seized by the police.

Arrested Accused:

  1. Lal Hussain, son of Nek Mohammad, resident of Malethi village, Post Office Silagharat, District Chamba, aged 20 years.
  2. Mohammad Sharif, son of Musa, resident of Bhalu village, Post Office Silagharat, District Chamba, aged 25 years.

An FIR (No. 47/2026 dated 16.02.2026) has been registered at Nurpur Police Station under Sections 20, 25, and 29 of the ND&PS Act. Further investigation is underway.

Nurpur Police has reiterated its commitment to a “Zero Tolerance Policy against Drugs” and assured that the anti-narcotics campaign will continue with full force in the future.
