In a major success under the ongoing special campaign against drug trafficking, Nurpur Police have arrested two individuals and seized narcotics along with a vehicle during a swift operation in the Kandwal area.
Acting on a tip-off, the CIA Nurpur team conducted a rapid raid and apprehended two accused red-handed. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Vivek Mahajan, son of Tarsem Lal, resident of village Basa, Post Office Raja Ka Bagh, Tehsil Nurpur.
- Vikas Chaudhary, son of Sukhdev Singh, resident of village Cinema Hall, Post Office Jasur, Tehsil Nurpur.
During the search, police recovered 5.72 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession. The vehicle used in the crime, a Kia Sonet (Registration No. HP-38H-9936), was also seized.
The arrests were made within the jurisdiction of Nurpur Police Station, and a case has been registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. Both accused are now in custody.
Police officials stated that investigations are underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the network—where the drugs originated and to whom they were intended to be supplied.
Reaffirming their commitment, Nurpur Police emphasized their “zero tolerance” policy against drug trafficking, pledging to continue efforts to protect society and youth from the menace of narcotics. Authorities also appealed to citizens to share any information related to drug activities with the police to aid in the crackdown.
