NSS Volunteers Lead Clean-Up of Historic Shantisangam in Nahan

Nahan: – The Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign wrapped up with a vibrant day of activities led by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government College. From 17th September to today, volunteers participated in numerous cleanliness initiatives as part of a nationwide effort spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

 

The concluding event featured a spirited awareness rally through Nahan, where participants paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The highlight was the revitalization of the historic Shantisangam Bawdi, which had suffered from neglect. Over 100 NSS volunteers collected 13 bags of plastic waste, transforming the area into a serene spot, with municipal support for waste disposal.

The day also included competitions in speech, essay writing, slogan creation, and poster making, celebrating the youth’s role in promoting cleanliness. Winners received accolades, emphasizing the event’s spirit of community and responsibility. Program Officer Prof. Lakshita thanked key stakeholders for their support and urged the community to embrace the motto “New Nahan-Clean Nahan.”
