MANDI: Actress-turned-politician and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut found herself at the centre of yet another political storm on Friday (April 11, 2025) as Himachal Youth Congress workers staged a protest during the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Mandi.
Slogans of “Go Back Kangana” and “Badtameez Sansad” rang out as black flags were waved to protest her alleged habitual use of abrasive language and unfulfilled promises.
But beyond the protest, a bigger story seems to be simmering inside her own party.
Despite a week-long, relentless attack by Kangana on the Congress, targeting leaders big and small from every available platform, not a single prominent BJP leader has stepped forward to publicly back her.
The question is loud and so far unanswered: Why is Kangana Ranaut politically isolated within her own party?

Lone warrior or political liability?
In recent days, Kangana has intensified her aggressive rhetoric against Congress leaders, often dominating headlines and television screens. However, what’s even more noticeable is the deafening silence from the BJP high command and senior state leaders.
Has the party grown uncomfortable with her style? Or is there internal unease over her celebrity-centric political presence overshadowing ground-level leadership?
“Her controversial tone and repeated disregard for political decorum are now becoming an issue not just for opposition parties but perhaps even within BJP ranks,” a senior political observer commented off the record.
Minister Vikramaditya Singh hits back
While Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh launched a scathing attack accusing Kangana of doing nothing substantial for Mandi in her one-year tenure and demanding a white paper on her achievements, the BJP machinery, known for its swift and coordinated responses, has remained conspicuously quiet.
No counter-press conference was held nor any statement issued in Kangana’s support.
The silence is prompting political circles to ask: Is Kangana Ranaut becoming a politically isolated figure? Is she seen as a firebrand asset or a potential liability, especially in a sensitive and culturally rooted state like Himachal Pradesh?

Internal rift or strategic silence?
Sources within the BJP suggest that while Kangana’s national appeal may draw attention, her unpredictable statements and confrontational style don’t go down well with the party’s traditional and cadre-based leadership in Himachal. Her minimal presence on the ground and low engagement with constituency-level issues may be causing quiet discontent.
