Dharamshala: In view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, District Electoral Officer Hemraj Bairwa has announced that no permission will be granted for election rallies on the premises of government educational institutions. He emphasized the necessity of obtaining permission for rallies in other locations as well to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Furthermore, provisions have been made for videography of the rallies to estimate the associated expenses. Rates for tents, chairs, sound systems, etc., have been fixed, and political parties and candidates will have to disclose rally expenses based on these rates.
The expenditure limit for candidates in the Lok Sabha elections has been set at Rs 95 lakh, and exceeding this limit is prohibited. To monitor expenses, an expenditure monitoring committee has been formed, along with the appointment of election observers by the Election Commission.
Bairwa also stated that political parties are prohibited from putting up wall writings, posters, banners, and other campaign materials on public places, railway stations, post offices, airports, bridges, government buildings, utility poles of electricity and telecommunications departments, and municipal buildings.
Regarding voter lists, names can be included until ten days before nominations. A district-wide voter awareness campaign has been initiated to ensure the inclusion of as many eligible voters as possible in the voter list.
